UPDATE: NATIONAL GRID RESTORED AFTER SECOND COLLAPSE IN TWO DAYS
- Power Supply restored 1233hrs – TCN Sources
The national electricity grid which collapsed earlier on Tuesday morning on Tuesday morning, has been restored.
Hotjist.com gathered that the grid went back up at exactly 12:33pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Sources at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) had disclosed to Hotjist.com that the collapse on Tuesday morning was caused by a problem on the regular line that is usually used to evacuate voltage load during restoration after blast starting.
The source however assured that TCN is trying other sources and power supply will be restored to the country shortly.
Earlier on Monday evening, at about 6:18pm, the grid collapsed and was restored at about 8:19pm
It was gathered that power generation dropped from 3.87 gigawatts at 5 pm to 3.56GW at 6 pm and 0.00GW at 7 pm and 8 pm.
Confirming the development in a statement on Monday evening, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company informed its customers āof a general system collapse that occurred at 18:48 hours today, 14th October 2024,ā saying this has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the EEDC network.
āConsequently, due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
āWe are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo,ā the EEDC stated in the statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh.
Also, the Abuja Disco said, āDear Valued Customer, Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 6:58 pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas.
āRest assured, we are working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised. Thank you for your understanding.ā
