NEWS: FUBARA APPROVES N85,000 MINIMUM WAGE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS IN RIVERS STATE

The Rivers State Government has set a minimum wage of N85,000 for civil officials in the state.

George Nwaeke, the state’s Head of Service, claimed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara gave his consent during a closed-door meeting with labour leaders and senior government officials.

Following the meeting, Nwaeke affirmed that the new minimum wage would go into effect immediately.

The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, thanked Governor Fubara for meeting the expectations of Rivers State employees.

He expressed gratitude for the governor’s dedication to the workforce.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, noted that the minimum wage will greatly alleviate the economic hardships faced by workers in the state.
