TESCOM DEEPENS TEACHERS’ KNOWLEDGE OF CREATING, MAINTAINING TECHNOLOGY-INFUSED CLASSROOM
The Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino has urged teachers to be prepared to invest in themselves in an ever-changing technology system if they are to remain relevant in the new global order.
She provided the advice during the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop hosted by the Commission for Teachers on GLs 15-17, which drew participants from all of the State’s educational districts.
She stated that the introduction of technical advancements and the emergence of digital platforms has marked a watershed moment in the history of education.
Peregrino further disclosed that the two-day workshop was carefully designed, bearing in mind that the 21st-century teaching methodology has been greatly characterised by constant changes and disruption of the old order.
The Chairman reiterated the commitments of the State Government to continually train and retrain teachers across all levels to build their capacity to meet the 21st-century educational challenges.
Welcoming participants to the workshop, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, represented by the Director of Teachers Education and Capacity Development, Mrs. Aloba Abidemi, thanked the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his continued support to the education family, especially TESCOM.
Aloba urged attendees to take advantage of the two-day session, which was aimed to increase their knowledge of technology and result in overall gains in transforming kids while also instilling public faith in instructors.
The workshop’s opening ceremony was attended by Commission board members Dr. Segun Agbaje, representing District III, and Mrs. Abimbola Adeola Idowu, representing District IV. They both recommended participants to be engaged, make it a participatory workshop, and take advantage of the opportunity to improve their performance in their respective classes.
The two-day program, held at the Teaching Service Staff Development Centre in Owutu, Ikorodu, is titled “Creating and Maintaining a Technology-Infused Classroom for Advanced Level Teacher GLs 15-17”.
