BREAKING: NEW ALAAFIN TO BEGIN 21-DAY TRADITIONAL RITUALS
The Alaafin of Oyo-elect, Oba Abimbola Owoade, is set to begin a 21-day traditional ritual as the newly appointed monarch of the town.
Governor Seyi Makinde announced Owoade as the new ruler of the ancient Yoruba community on Friday, and on Monday, he formally presented him with the staff of office.
Owoade succeeds the late Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who passed away three years ago.
The ceremony was attended by the kingmakers, known as the Oyomesi, senior government officials, and notable personalities from the state.
After the presentation, an anonymous source revealed that the new Alaafin has departed for Oyo town, where he will be received by his people, and his 21 days of traditional rites for his ascension to the throne will begin immediately.
“Oba Owoade has headed to Oyo town to meet the sons and daughters of Oyo town and would proceed for his mandatory 21 days traditional rites for the ascension to the throne of his forefathers,” he said.
