NBS REPORTS NIGERIA’S INFLATION FALLS TO 24.48% AFTER REBASING
The National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that Nigeria’s headline inflation stood at 24.48 percent in January 2025, following the rebasing of the consumer price index (CPI).
This information was shared by the Statistician General, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, during the launch of the rebased CPI report in Abuja on Tuesday.
The inflation rate for January shows a decline from the 34.80 percent recorded in December 2024.
Adeniran also pointed out that food inflation for January 2025 was 26.08 percent year-on-year, marking a decrease from the 39.84 percent recorded in the previous month.
He explained that the rebased CPI accurately reflects the current inflationary pressures in Nigeria, with the inflation primarily driven by increases in food, beverages, clothing, and footwear items.
