POLICE APPREHEND FAKE SERGEANT ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY
The Ogun State Police Command has taken a 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, into custody for allegedly impersonating a police officer while wearing a full uniform with a sergeant’s rank.
According to the state command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the arrest occurred on February 20, 2025, around 2:10 pm during a reconnaissance patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for operations along the Long Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Officers on duty grew suspicious of Collins’ presence at the location and promptly took him into custody.
Odutola said, “Upon interrogation at the station, Collins was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his impersonation, raising further suspicion about his activities.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine his motives and any potential criminal involvement.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command warns the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals posing as police officers.”
