
UPDATE: NINE DEAD, THREE INJURED IN LAGOS/IBADAN EXPRESSWAY CRASH
Nine people were confirmed dead in a traffic accident that happened early on Monday at the Ayetoro section of the Lagos/Ibadan Motorway, according to the Federal Roads Safety Corp (FRSC) Ogun State sector.
The crash also injured three other people.
In a statement released in the state capital of Abeokuta, Florence Okpe, the sector’s chief route commander and public education officer, verified this occurrence.
“A total of 13 people were involved which comprised of 10 male adult and 03 female adult and 9 were recorded killed (6 male and 3 female) while 3 were injured, two vehicles were involved with registration numbers UYY165ZY TOYOTA HIACE BUS and DKA244XC TRUCK,” she said.
She said that weariness and excessive speed were the likely reasons for the deadly collision, which caused the driver to lose control and collide with a stationary vehicle.
According to her, the deceased were placed in the Idera mortuary in Sagamu, while the injured were transported to Famobis Hospital in Mowe.
