Late on Tuesday morning, two students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State, were kidnapped by a group of gunmen outside the school’s campus.

Ashar Lubem, a student at the college, told reporters over the phone on Wednesday that the gunmen had abducted four pupils.

He went on to say that after the incident, the students were in a panic.

Lubem said, “Some gunmen kidnapped four students outside campus yesterday evening. We have yet to hear from them.

“Everyone is in a panic mood because of the incident.”

Sewuese Anene, the Benue Police Public Relations Officer, verified the event and stated that an inquiry had begun during a phone call with our correspondent on Wednesday.

She emphasized, however, that the Command had only been notified of the kidnapping of two pupils.

“We received the information yesterday evening that two students were kidnapped. We have commenced an investigation, and further details will be provided soon,” Anene said.
