
KWARA POLICE CONFIRMS ARREST OF POPULAR SINGER PORTABLE OVER CRIMINAL DEFAMATION, THREAT TO LIFE, OTHERS
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known in the entertainment industry as “Portable,” following a petition filed by Mr. Okunola Saheed, widely known as “Osupa.”
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the petition lodged against the singer details serious allegations including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and the use of abusive and insulting words.
In response to the petition and based on the weight of the evidence provided, the Command obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin. Acting on this legal directive, Kwara State police operatives apprehended Portable in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m.
The suspect was immediately transferred to Ilorin for further investigations, where his statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He is currently in police custody, and the Command has assured the public that arrangements are underway to charge him to court without delay.
The Kwara State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and pledged to ensure justice is served fairly and transparently. Members of the public are advised to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, as further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
