Read Time:39 Second

‎The Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has prevented an attempt by vandals to steal crude oil in Abia State.

‎According to a statement by CSC Afolabi Babawale, the National Public Relations Officer at NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja, the squad acted on reliable intelligence and arrived at the scene to find a significant crude oil spillage.

‎ The vandals had installed a valve at a damaged section of the pipeline to siphon the oil.

‎The area was secured until the technical, maintenance, and environmental teams from Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) arrived to repair the pipeline and clean up the spill.

‎Although no suspects were apprehended, the SIS has deployed intelligence operatives to track down those behind the attempted oil theft and economic sabotage.
