NSCDC FOILS CRUDE OIL THEFT AT VANDALISED PIPELINE IN ABIA
The Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has prevented an attempt by vandals to steal crude oil in Abia State.
According to a statement by CSC Afolabi Babawale, the National Public Relations Officer at NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja, the squad acted on reliable intelligence and arrived at the scene to find a significant crude oil spillage.
The vandals had installed a valve at a damaged section of the pipeline to siphon the oil.
The area was secured until the technical, maintenance, and environmental teams from Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) arrived to repair the pipeline and clean up the spill.
Although no suspects were apprehended, the SIS has deployed intelligence operatives to track down those behind the attempted oil theft and economic sabotage.
