OSINBAJO EMPHASIS ON DIVERSIFICATION OF NIGERIA ECONOMY

Nigeria’s Vice – President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo has disclosed that the main goal of the federal government is to completely diversify the economy from the  over dependent oil sector and focus on other key sectors.
Osinbajo made this known  in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital at the 4th edition of the state’s Investors’ Forum with the theme “Consolidating the gains accelerating Growth”.
 Prof Yemi Osinbajo says the Federal government is committed towards increasing her internal generated revenue just as it is spending heavily on capital projects.
He noted tthat the Federal government is working towards the implementation of broadband internet facilities in school towards fastracking the use of IT in schools.
Osinbajo further  reassured that the federal government would continue to give the necessary support to every State in order to reach its full economic potentials.
Delivering his keynote address, Former Mexican President, Felipe Calderon said for any economy to grow it must first address the issue of corruption.
He disclosed that Mexico overcame recession in 2009 by investing in infrastructural development thereby urging Nigeria to wake up to modern day realities by investing more in infrastructure and technology.
Convener of the summit, Senator Ibikunle Amosun said his administration remains committed to infrastructural investments as a catalyst for economic growth and transformation, stressing that through concerted efforts, the State has become  a reference point among comity of States.
He said the state was rated the second most viable state in the federation in terms of fiscal sustainability in the 2017 BudgIT report, insisting that plans of the government was to be the most viable in the next 10 years.
