FA Clears Watford’s Kabasele To Play Vs Arsenal After Red Card Appeal
Watford’s Christian Kabasele has been cleared to face Arsenal in Saturday’s English Premier League encounter after an appeal against the red card he received in the Hornets’ Carabao Cup defeat by Tottenham on Wednesday was upheld.
Kabasele was sent off by referee Lee Mason for a foul on Dele Alli in the 81st minute at Stadium MK, with the Spurs midfielder scoring the resulting penalty.
Watford lost 4-2 on penalties to Tottenham Hotspur despite the Hornets taking the lead through Isaac Success in the 46th minute of the encounter.
Delli Alli restored parity from the spot nine minutes from time. Alli bagged his brace five minutes later just when the Hornets were down to 10 men after losing Christian Kabasele to a red card but Etienne Capoue’s goal drew Watford level again with two minutes to the end of the game.
In the penalty shootout, Dele Alli scored the winning spot-kick to send Tottenham through at Watford’s expense after Etienne Capoue and Domingos Quina missed for the Hornets.
“Christian Kabasele’s one-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect after his wrongful dismissal claim was upheld,” said a statement from the Football Association.
“The Watford player had been sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday (26/09/18).”
Watford also gleefully announced it on their official Twitther Handle on Friday.
“@chriskabasele27 will be available for selection to #watfordfc Head Coach Javi Gracia at @Arsenal on Saturday. His red card against @SpursOfficial on Wednesday night was rescinded after the Hornets appealed to the @FA against the decision,” the club tweeted.
Watford are fourth in the English Premier League table with 13 points from six games.
