Grammy-winning global megastar Justin Bieber collaborated with Afrobeats musician Omah Lay, who just shared his wonderful experience.
How it all began: The popular Nigerian singer Omah Lay claims that his friendship with Justin Bieber began following the release of his debut album, the “Get Layd” EP, in 2020. On Instagram, Justin sent him a message and started following him; they later grew close.
How “Attention” was created: Working with an international powerhouse like Justin Bieber can seem like a very challenging proposition, but Omah Lay said that it is really his easiest collaboration to date while explaining how his collaboration with Justin for the song “Attention” was made.
Omah Lay explained how the song for his debut album, “Boy Alone,” came about: “I just submitted a song, he loved the song and gave back a verse.”
Omah Lay’s much-anticipated debut album, “Boy Alone,” was published on July 15, 2022. Critics and fans have praised it as a daring, truthful, and expertly selected work.
Omah Lay played the song with Justin Bieber on his 2022 “Justice Tour” as a way to show the relationship between the two outstanding musicians.
Another victory for Afrobeats: Omah Lay’s admission that working with Justin Bieber was the easiest collaboration of his career exemplifies the genre’s present state.
Afrobeats is gaining palpable international fame and success and with this fame comes respect, and acknowledgment that will further position Nigerian superstars for global success.
