16-YEAR-OLD MURDERS STEPMOTHER, ANOTHER MAN STABS HIS FATHER IN ADAMAWA

The Adamawa State Police Command is presently examining two distinct occurrences of criminal homicide resulting from domestic violence in the Madagali and Gombi local government regions.
In a statement released by the representative for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on Wednesday, it was indicated that the initial occurrence took place in Pallam District, Madagali.
According to the statement, a preliminary investigation reveals that a physical confrontation erupted between two co-wives, Rhoda Anthony, aged 55, and Victoria Anthony, aged 36, both married to one Anthony Pallam.
“During the altercation, Victoria’s son, Ijai Anthony, aged 16, reportedly struck his stepmother, Rhoda Anthony, on the head with a piece of wood, causing her to collapse, upon receiving the report the Divisional Police officer Madagali Promptly mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital Madagali, but was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” the statement read.
He said that the suspect and his mother have been taken into protective custody as the investigation progresses.
The statement added, “In another similar tragic incident occurred in Fotta District, Gombi Local Government Area.
The Command obtained an urgent report indicating that an individual named Idi Buba assaulted his biological father, Buba Jelli, by inflicting stab wounds to his neck and back with a knife, subsequent to a domestic dispute. The victim was swiftly transported to the Primary Health Care Center in Fotta, where he regrettably succumbed to his injuries whilst undergoing treatment.
Nguroje confirmed that the suspect was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the attack has also been recovered and will be treated as an exhibit against the suspect.
The Commissioner of Police for the Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has firmly denounced these acts of aggression, particularly those concerning relatives.
He urges all inhabitants to consistently demonstrate self-control, refrain from administering justice independently, and pursue peaceful methods in addressing disputes.
He said that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
