The Executive Director of Citizens Advocacy For Social & Economic Rights (CASER) Frank Tietie has condemned the move by the Nigerian Police to arrest Sen Dino Melaye at his residence in Abuja.
This followed the manner in which the police on Monday besieged the embattled senators house on Sangha Street, Maitama Abuja to get him arrested.
Mr. Tietie however urged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to call his men to order saying the move to arrest the Kogi Senator was being carried out without due process.
In the meantime, Men of the Nigeria Immigration Services had earlier arrested and detained Dino in the early hours of Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport on his way out of the country to Morocco on official assignment by the federal government but he later escaped the arrest.
In another development, a group of Internally Displaced Persons in Abuja protested against the planned arrest of the Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye at his residence.
The IDPs from the new Kuchingoro Camp said the embattled Senator has been their main sponsor since arriving the Nigerian capital and as such will resist every attempt by security operatives to arrest him.
