Osun state tax Evaders to Face Prosecution

The Osun Internal Revenue Service is set to begin criminal prosecution of tax evaders and avoiders in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tax and Revenue Matters in the state, Gbenga Akano dropped the hint at press briefing in Osogbo,  the state capital.
Correspondent Abass Okandeji reports that, while reelling out names of defaulting companies, Akano reitrated the agency’s zero tolerance to tax evation and avoidance, vowing that the companies will face the full weight of the law.
He said, the agency resolved to embark on criminal prosecution having exhausted avenues to ensure compliance for the tax defaulters to performance their civil responsibility.
The Special Adviser disclosed that about 12.5billion total liability on the defaulters which include telecommunication companies, construction companies, higher institutions of learning and federal government establishments.
