Developing report reveals that many vehicles, most of which were new, shops and houses have been burnt to ashes after the pipeline explosion in the early hours of Wednesday, at Abbatoir extending to Abule-egba area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that vandals had completed their business of scooping petrol from the pipeline around the area at midnight, thereby causing a spill over into the gutter and then resulted in an explosion from the pipelines.
According to eyewitnesses, cases like this had been repeatedly reported by the residents to various agencies concerned.
Although no life was lost, lots of properties were gutted by fire including a car dealer’s outlet and shop owner who were said to have lost millions of Naira worth of goods.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA’s response unit had arrived at the scene in few trucks hours after the fire incident.
The LASEMA situation report reads;
“The impact resulted in inferno as it ravaged several houses and cars at the incident scene. Lagos Fire Servicemen and LRU firemen are on ground to combat the inferno in order to curtail the further spread to adjoining buildings and also the nearest Filling station.”
Report however indicates investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
