The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed the Air Component of Police Security apparatus, which consists of a monitoring team, a specially trained helicopter crew for aerial surveillance, and the state’s Technical Intelligence Unit, according to a statement released on Thursday by SP William Aya, the public relations officer for the state police.
The deployment was “in furtherance of the ongoing rescue operation and to sustain the onslaught on the suspected bandits that abducted the yet-to-be ascertained number of students of the Confluence State University, CUSTECH, last week Thursday.”

The statement read, “The reinforcement is in response to the IGP’s unwavering passion about protecting lives and property of all Nigerians, especially the safety of our Children in various Schools in the country.

“The diligence and indomitable spirit of all the combined team led to the rescue of additional seven victims, bringing the total to 21.

“It’s not over until it is over, so we should not rest on our oars. Instead, all hands must be on deck to ensure all are safely rescued and perpetrators are brought to deserved justice.”

He said that the Kogi State Government as well as the university community are satisfied with the rescue operations so far and commended the unassailable level of cooperation, collaboration and synergy among the security agents.

According to him, State Commissioner of Police Bertrand Onuoha used the occasion to express gratitude to the good people of the state as well as the police chief and security forces for their extraordinary display of patriotism.

Together, the good people of Confluence State and the Police and other Security Agencies will provide sufficient security for the lives and property of law-abiding inhabitants in the State, which is why the CP will continue to ask for their cooperation, collaboration, and solidarity.
