According to the Osun State Police Command, an investigation has commenced into the death of the deceased who was gunned dead by a female customer after both parties engaged in a war of words.
An eyewitness, who spoke to The Punch under anonymity for security reasons, said Lawalās death was caused by an argument over a telephone allegedly bought from him.
She said a young woman, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, had earlier purchased a mobile phone from the deceased, only to return it around 9 pm with the claim that the phone was faulty.
The trader stated, āThe young woman, who bought the phone, brought a man to persuade the seller of the phone to refund her money and take the phone back. An argument later ensued between them and we heard a gunshot.
āMonsuru Lawal was shot and he died on the spot. The man, who accompanied the young woman to the scene, allegedly shot the phone seller. Both the woman and the man immediately fled the scene.ā
Another source in the area said late Lawal was at a pub in the Isale Osun area with some of his friends when a gunman entered and shot at him repeatedly.
