WHY YOU NEED NUDITY TO SELL YOUR BRAND

It is no more trending news that nudity is gradually becoming a norm in our generation, even in Africa of all places. This may not be far from our imported movie and music contents which flood our TV and phone screens through the pipeline of our entertainment industry. It has struck the very heart of Africa- the source of life and history of humanity, and left our forebearers wondering- “if it is like this in June, how will it be in July?”

What will our afore generations meet? Maybe they will still meet our culture but totally stripped naked, dancing shamelessly. It is very appalling to know that the very people we place on ‘the celebrity pedestal’ are those selling us this ‘quagmire’ and now every upcoming that wants to ‘blow’ must walk the path, wafter being brainwashed with the notion that nudity is a necessary element to be successful in the entertainment industry.Ā 

However, Veteran Nigerian filmmaker, Binta Ayo Magoji posited that”you don’t need nudity to sell your product, unless of course, you deal in pornographies and bikinis, if that’s not the case, then you should have no business with nudity.”

Binta Ayo Mogaji (BAM) is a well-cultured actress with class, popularly known for IGBALADOGI. She has been a part of over 400 films, television and theatre productions. She has been active and relevant since the 1970s till date, yet upholds the virtue of African pride and decency in her line of work. BAM has received a number of industry awards, including Best Actress by organisers of then annual REEL awards.

She further stated in an interview with TheGuardian Newspaper- “There are some roles I cannot play. I can understand if I have to tie a wrapper up above the breasts level as our mothers used to do in the village in those days. That is the highest level of nudity I can do in a film. They donā€™t give me roles like kissing or acting nude, not even when I was younger.”

BAM remains a role model and a living testimony that you do not need nudity to get famous and be noticed for what you do. She remains an icon, a reason to debunk such fallacy that nudity is an essential tool to sell out.

There is a need for us to find what was long lost, what was once ours and can still be- DECENCY.
