The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate accused of terrorising residents and snatching vehicles at gunpoint across the state.
The suspects Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu, aged between 27 and 32, were apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following actionable intelligence obtained from a suspect already in custody.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the operation was conducted on Saturday at Agukwu-Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.
Recovered from the suspects were one automatic pump action gun and a cache of stolen items, including a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC (Reg No: KWC 140), an ash Lexus 350 (Reg No: 669 CY), and two high-end mobile phones.
“The operatives have expanded investigations and emplaced every necessary measure to arrest other gang members currently at large,” Ikenga stated.
He added that the development demonstrates the command’s renewed commitment to disrupting criminal networks and enhancing public safety across the state.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement with useful information to curb crime in their communities.
