Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, caught wind of Idris Ojo’s arrest by the security services as one of the attackers of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

Given that the regrettable episode in Kuje jail came after the horrific event of the June 5 attack in Owo, Governor Akeredolu acknowledged the confusion the remark had caused in the public sphere.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, announced something incorrectly, according to the Governor.

“The declaration by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, that Idris Ojo had been detained as one of the attackers in the June 5 attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo was a mistake.”

“Idris Ojo, who is listed as the 14th sought person on the list of Kuje Prison Escapees, was found in his brother’s Akure home. After escaping from Kuje jail, he was welcomed and sheltered by his brother, Jimoh Rasheed Ibrahim.

He was then relocated and kept in the care of the security personnel until the Owo Catholic Church attackers were apprehended and taken into custody. Hence the confusion. So said the governor.

Idris Ojo, who is listed as the 14th wanted person on the list of Kuje Prison Escapees, was apprehended in his brother’s Akure home, according to Governor Akeredolu.

The state’s security agencies need the public’s continued vigilance and support, Governor Akeredolu emphasized.
