The family of Sylvester Oromoni Jr., who was brutally murdered by five alleged cultist students of Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos, have expressed their utter displeasure with the slow pace at which justice is being served in the case of the 12-year-old. As a result, they are calling for justice to be served quickly on this case.
In an effort to hide the events that led to the death of late Sylvester Oromoni Jr. after he was allegedly bullied, tortured, and intimidated at Dowen College Lekki Lagos, they express their grievances, pain, and displeasure over the false reports hastily issued by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution DPP.
However, on Wednesday, the Justice4SylvesterOromoniAMust Committee Nationwide in collaboration with Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators Forum (NDNAF)Ā during the first memorial and candlelight of the 12-year-old, called on Nigerians and human rights groups to seek for Justice on behalf of Late Sylvester as it claims that the circumstances surrounding his death was questionable, adding that the group will not go into to the matter as it is aware that a Corona inquest has been set up to investigate the matter and its already in court.
Comrade Henry Oyobolo, the National Publicity Secretary, of NDNAF while speaking to the press, appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to make sure that justice is served.
He also, stated that Teachers, Schools (Day or Boarding), as well as the government should be held responsible for failure to protect a child as it is stipulated in the child rights Act of 2003 which states that, “Every child has the right to dignity of their person and the Lagos state government must show capacity on child protection adding that child abuse and molestation in schools must stop”.
He said, “We are appealing to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to make sure justice is served as this case is not swept under the carpet like other murder cases that we don’t hear about anymore.”
“If it takesus three, four to six years to get justice, we will stay with the Oromoni’s family
He however, expressed condolences to the late Sylvester Oromoni’s family and the Ijaw Nation for their loss.
Meanwhile, Mr Rotimi Francis, the chairman of the JUSTICE4SYLVESTEROROMONIAMUST stated that the death of Oromoni and other Nigerian students in Primary and Secondary is far too many.
He therefore urged the Government to do all in its capacity in making sure that Oromoni Jnr, gets justice while adding that all human rights group and Nigerians are watching the State and Federal Government on how they tend to enforce justice in the matter.
He said, ” We are here today for the support on the quest for justice on the gruesome murder of the Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.
