The Lagos State government has closed it’s case against the Medical Director of Cancer Care Foundation, Olufemi Olaleye, who is facing trial at an Ikeja Special Offences Court for allegedly defiling his wife’s 16-year-old niece.

Dr. Babajide Martins, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) told the court on Friday, that the team would be closing it’s case against the doctor.

“Prosecution is closing it’s case today,” he said.

Following the DPP’s announcement, the defence counsel, Babatunde Ogala, informed the court that the defence would be filing a no-case submission to urge the court to dismiss the charge. If these is granted, it means there would be no need for the defense to open it’s case.

Dr. Olaleye is facing a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration before Justice Ramon Oshodi.

On the last adjourned date, the fifth and last Prosecuting witness told the court that the survivor was 17-year-old at the time the case was reported by the doctor’s wife, Aderemi Olaleye at the police station.

He added that the survivor told him that the defendant had allegedly engaged her in sexual activities in 2019.

On January 4th, 2023 a medical doctor, Oyebimpe Akinbunmi, told the court how the survivor was allegedly defiled by the defendant.

Meanwhile, on December 21, 2021 the Survivor testified against the defendant in a closed hearing which was in line with the 1999 constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act as amended.

Also, Mrs Aderemi Fagbemi-Olaleye, on 19th of December, informed the court during her testimony that her husband was diagnosed with sex addiction.

Justice Ramon Oshodi however, adjourned the case till 16th of March for adoption of written address on a no-case submission.
