WE WON’T RUBBER-STAMP ELECTION RESULTS – DINO MELAYE
Sen. Dino Melaye, an agent for the People’s Democratic Party, walks out of the National Collation Centre in Abuja after alleging election results were manipulated.
Dino Melaye and a few other party representatives objected and requested that the State Collation Officers verify that the results being shown at the National Collation Centre in Abuja were identical to the results that were put on the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IREV).
Melaye said: “We are not here to rubber stamp the electoral fraud that has been cooked by INEC and APC.
“We are Nigerians and we all know that there is nowhere on the server that results have been uploaded and they are saying we should be completed.
All the political parties here have staged a walk-out to express the unfortunate politicization and commercialization od the electoral process.”
About 10 political parties including the Labour Party and Peoples’ Democratic Party staged the walk out.
During the presentation process earlier, Melaye raised concern that there were a lot of discrepancies in the results from Ekiti State presented on Sunday.
He claimed it was discovered that the results presented on Sunday were at variance with the results declared at the polling units.
After conducting some research into the reported issues, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, responded that there are no anomalies in the collation process.
Malaye and a few other parties left the centre after being dissatisfied with the INEC chairman’s response.
