
BRITISH PRIME MINISTER RISHI SUNAK CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT-ELECT BOLA TINUBU
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has congratulated President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in last Saturday’s presidential election.
In a short statement on his Twitter handle, Sunak said “Congratulations to @officialABAT on his victory in Nigeria. The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries.”
Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the presidential election having garnered 8,794,726 votes to beat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 6,984,520. While Peter Obi of the Labour Party scored 6,101,553 and Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party scored 1,496,687.
The President elect got the highest vote cast in Rivers with 231,591, Borno – 252,283, Cross-River – 130,520, Zamfara – 298,396, Jigawa – 42,139,0, Adamawa – 182,881, Niger – 375,183 , Ogun-341,554, Benue – 310,468, Oyo – 449,884, Ondo -369,924, Kwara – 263,572.
