LAGOS CP HOLDS FORMAL INAUGURAL MEETING WITH STRATEGIC COMMANDERS

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, held a formal inaugural meeting with the strategic commanders in Lagos State on Friday.
The meeting was held to keep them in tune with all the policing values, principles, expectations, broad operational styles to restore police primacy, and trust amongst others.
The CP while giving his speech, noted that the security of the residents of Lagos state remained the top priority for the police.
He asked the strategic police managers across the departments within the command headquarters, fourteen Area Commands and one hundred and ten police divisions of the state for their support, cooperation and understanding in order to be able to attain his policing visions and plans in Lagos State.
Owohunwa also, added that the essence of the conference is to undertake a post-mortem of the just concluded general elections in Lagos and undertake a comprehensive review of the patterns and trend of crimes in the State.
He mentioned that the police during the exercise recorded a combined total of fifty four (54) major incidents across the thirteen thousand,three hundred and twenty-five polling unit in the state adding that a total of forty five (45) suspect were arrested during the two election.
Out of the cases under investigation, it is on record that lagos state was the first command to conclude the investigation of the first set of Electoral offences and promptly processed wight to INEC for prosecution in line with Electoral Act and the directives of the Inspector General of police, while others involving unlawful possession of firearms and sundry criminal acts were charged to courts by the police.” He said
He continued by saying, that the Lagos police command has received commendations from the IGP and locals as well as the last international observers and other segments of the society.
Owohunwa however, praised the officers for their dedication, loyalty, personal sacrifice, strength of character and professionalism which they manifested as well as, the strategic leadership that was provided for the personnels under their commands.
He sounded a note of warning to especially cultists and criminals in Lagos state saying, “There shall be no hiding place for them unless they voluntarily renounce crime and opt for peaceful and legally permissible means of existence. Should they remain in the business, they shall in the coming days, feel the heat of law and enforcement and justice.” He added.
