The Lagos State Police Command has directed a businessman, Amarah Kennedy, to appear in court to prove his innocence in connection with the alleged publishing of a widow’s nude images on social media.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, announced this on his verified Twitter account on Wednesday.

He stated that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Idowu Owohunwa, met with the victim of the heinous act at his office on Tuesday.

“While assuring the survivor of justice, the CP has directed the Lagos State Command’s Police Medical Services to provide her with adequate psychosocial support.”

“The suspect is advised to submit himself to prove his innocence; failure to do so will result in the deployment of all law enforcement machinery available to secure his arrest and prosecution,” he warned.

Hundeyin stated that the officer suspected of seeking money to take up the matter at Pen Cinema, Insp. Raphael Edeifo, has been handed up to the Provost for investigation and orderly chamber trial if found liable.

According to him, CP Owohunwa has provided clear guarantees that all necessary means will be done to ensure that the suspect is apprehended by the long arm of the law.

According to a source, the suspect allegedly blackmailed the woman by sending her nude images.

The victim, a widow whom Kennedy had met on Facebook, had sexual intercourse with him in a hotel where her nude photos were taken without her knowledge.

The suspect demanded N140,000 from her as a condition not to post her pictures but after collecting the N140,000 he didn’t fulfil his promise.

Kennedy, who has posted over 50 naked images, continues to demand more money and threatens to release more if she does not comply.

When the case was reported to the Pen Cinema Police Station, an officer allegedly demanded N50,000 from the victim.
