LAGOS GOVT REITERATES CONTINUOUS SUPPORT FOR CULTURAL FESTIVAL

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Idris Aregbe disclosed this in his remarks at the 11th Annual World Egbe festival held recently at Suntan Beach, Lagos.

LASUTH CELEBRATES RETIRED MEMBERS OF STAFF

Aregbe, represented at the event by the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Idowu Johnson, expressed his satisfaction with the organisation of the festival which attracted more tourists than usual.

He reiterated the commitments of the State Government to continue to support the World Egbe Cultural Festival annually to portray unity amongst people of different beliefs and continue to showcase the ancient heritage of the State of aquatic splendour.

The Oba Ariwajoye Fasagbade of Akoko Land appreciated the support of the State Government in ensuring the success of the hosting of the annual event in the past few years, noting that it was a source of encouragement to the organisers of the Annual World Egbe Cultural Festival.

He added that the ceremony was a universal celebration attracting participants from as far as Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba. The Egbe festival witnessed the showcasing and the celebration of the Miss Culture World Beauty pageant. The Zagbeto masquerade dance and Sato drums known to Badagry indigenous cultural heritage were also displayed to enrich the festivities.
