LAGOS GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: TRIBUNAL SET TO DELIVER JUDGEMENT

The Lagos State Election Tribunal sitting at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, will today deliver judgement on the petition filed against the States governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, by labour party and its candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and the People’s Democratic party and its candidate, Olajide Adediran.

The petitioners had before the three man tribunal led by Justice Arum Ashom, challenged the victory of governor Babajide Sanwo-olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, at the 2023 governorship election held April 18, 2023.

In his petition, the labour party governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour said the deputy governor took an oath of allegiance in the US to renounce his Nigerian citizenship.

The petition also stated that governor Babajide Sanwo-olu does not have a valid voter card

Meanwhile, the people’s democratic party governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran said governor Babajide Sanwo-olu had forged the WAEC certificate he presented to Independent National Electoral Commission.

The tribunal had on August 12, 2023 listened to final written address of all party, while reserving its judgement on the addresses.
