
TRIBUNAL STRIKES OUT PDP, SANDY ONOR’S PETITION IN CROSS RIVER
On Tuesday, the Cross River State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Sandy Onor, challenging the election of Bassey Otu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the panel’s decision, the petition was dismissed for lack of merit.
The PDP candidate contested the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) announcement of Otu as the winner of the March 18 poll in South-South state.
According to the INEC results, Otu received 258,619 votes, while Onor received 179,636.
The APC candidate won in 15 local government areas of 18 LGAs certified by the commission in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
