BANDITS KIDNAP KEBBI’S FORMER LG CHAIRMAN, 12 OTHERS IN NIGER
Garba Hassan, a former chairman of Kebbi State’s Ngeski Local Government Area, and twelve other individuals have been abducted by bandits.
On Thursday, the gunmen abducted Hassan and the other passengers from a commercial truck along the Tegina-Kontagora Road in the state.
At the time of the event, the victims were going from Abuja to Kebbi State.
The bandits attacked the road and stopped the vehicle in Niger State, where they were hiding in the forest between Tegina and Kontagora town.
After that, the victims were led by the bandits into the jungle and brought to an unidentified location.
But police authorities in the state are yet to comment on the incident.
“I will find out and get back to you,” the spokesperson of the Niger Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, told Channels Television.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, said they have heard about it, and are investigating the incident.
He gave his word that the abductees’ rescue attempts are underway.
Under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hassan presided over the Ngeski local government from 2007 to 2015 before leaving to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was discovered that prior to his kidnapping, he had intended to return to APC.
