200 HOURS COOK-A-THON: EX-OSUN COMMISSIONER CANVASSES FOR OGBOMOSO CHEF, GIVE CASH SUPPORT
Mr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the immediate past Osun State Commissioner for Works, donated N150,000 on Tuesday to support Ogbomoso-born Chef Tope Maggie, who is currently working towards 200 cooking hours in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Tope Magi, who has reportedly gone past 119 hours, 57 minutes as of Tuesday evening, being the longest cooking hour record set by an Irish Chef, Alan Fisher, should be supported to achieve his goal, according to Omowaiye.
Omowaiye, in a statement obtained in Osogbo, commended the students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, for the support given to the chef and called on Nigerians to rally support for him to once again put Nigeria on the world map.
The statement further read in parts, “I, Oluremi Omowaiye, the immediate past Osun State Commissioner for Works, congratulate the Ogbomoso-born chef, Tope Maggie, for his resilience and hardworking spirit that has made him cross over the world record of 119hours 57 minutes of the Irish chef, Alan Fisher, who currently holds the World record of the longest cooking hour.
“You will recall that Tope Maggie disclosed about four months ago that he was going for a cook-a-thon, and we are glad that Tope is doing well. He has gone past the world record, and we hope that the Guinness Book of Records will confirm his record winning on time.
“I must commend him for his sacrifices, sleepless nights and dedication to achieving this great feat. We are proud of him. To this effect, I will be supporting his efforts with a token of N150,000, while I will also mobilise particularly, ex-LAUTECH students, to also support him.
“Tope’s target is to make 200 cooking hours. He has done so well. I call on all Nigerians to give him support, the way we gave Chef Hilda support. He has put Nigeria again on a global map and we are proud of him. I will mobilise friends and people across to support him with funds. I have seen alot of LAUTECH students give him support. I am proud of them.”
