The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, joined participants of the 2023 Easter Pilgrimage to Jordan and Israel, to express gratitude to God for the success of the pilgrimage exercise.

The Thanksgiving Service held at The Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja had in attendance family members, friends and well-wishers of the Jerusalem returnees gathered to offer Thanksgiving to the Almighty God.

The First Lady said that the pilgrims would forever cherish the memories of the last pilgrimage exercise as a journey filled with uncertainties and the grace of God.

She said: “As Christians, we are always assured of the abiding presence of God as it is in the Book of Psalms 91:3. We are grateful to God that all the pilgrims completed the pilgrimage exercise unhurt, protected by the wings of the Almighty.

“The whole experience in the Holy Land is a testament to the power of faith and the abundance of God’s grace. It is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, our trust in God can lead us through the darkest times. The Israel-Hamas crisis that erupted during the last pilgrimage will forever be remembered as a testament to the unwavering faith and resilience of our pilgrims”.

She reminded the pilgrims of the need to continue to walk in the path of righteousness, guided by the lessons learned during this pilgrimage, and remain steadfast in their devotion to God.

In her words: “Now that you are back from this life-transforming and life-changing journey, I beseech you to let the lessons learned reflect in your interactions and association with people around you, and most importantly, strengthen your relationship with God. The trip to the holy land has allowed you to experience in real life the stories you have read in the Bible. I, therefore, admonish you to imbibe and internalise the lessons and follow peace and holiness with all men”.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu expressed the hope that Lagos State and Nigeria will greatly benefit from the spiritual rejuvenation exercise that the pilgrims have experienced, stressing that this will help to ensure the numerical growth of Godly and righteous individuals in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Board Secretary, Mrs. Florence Gbafe thanked Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the special interest he displayed towards the Year 2023 Easter pilgrimage during and after the pilgrimage journey and for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the pilgrims generally.

The preacher at the Thanksgiving Service, Rev. Toyin Kehinde, who spoke on the theme: “We have counted and not one is missing”, said that the testimonies of the pilgrims were beyond God’s protection but also showed that God gave them outstanding testimonies in the Holy Land.
