FIVE DIES AS EXPLOSION ROCKS IMO OIL BUNKERING SITE
Following an explosion at an illegal bunkering site nearby, five people have died in the oil-producing hamlet of Obitti in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
The tragic tragedy occurred as a result of the illicit actions of oil thieves at a location known as Obitti Rubber Estate, which is well-known for the nefarious activities of oil vandals, according to Henry Okoye, a spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, who confirmed the incident.
He said that numerous homes and farmlands were burned, a fuel tanker caught fire, and five vandals were slain.
Villagers who were present when the incident happened claim that rival oil thieves clashed while loading a crude oil ship, leading to a gunfight that ultimately culminated in an explosion.
According to Okoye, CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police, has already assembled a strong investigative team to identify the incident’s immediate cause and apprehend those responsible.
