2024 BIOMETRICAL LAB SCIENCE DAY: RANDLE GH ORGANISES FREE MEDICAL TESTS FOR RESIDENTS

The Randle General Hospital, Surulere, has organised free medical tests for residents of Surulere and environ in commemoration of the 2024 International Federation Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) Day.

The event, themed: “Guardians of Quality and Patients Safety” held at Ojuelegba axis on Wednesday by the Medical Laboratory Department of the Hospital, was specifically designed to create awareness of the importance of the Day and enlighten members of the community.

In his remarks, the Medical Director/CEO of Randle GH, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin enjoined everyone, especially people above the age of 40, to always indulge in medical checks regularly to determine their health status and not wait till they are down through one sickness or the other.

He advised Lagosians to visit competent places and institutions like general hospitals for proper tests and checkups, pointing out that the General Hospital Randle, Maternal and Child Care Centre (MCC) Gbaja, as well as the new Gbajabiamila General Hospital, have an open door policy for people to access.

He equally pointed out that the hospital will continue to accord necessary attention to people of the community, whenever they visit the hospital for medical attention.

Similarly, the Head of Department, Medical Laboratory, Mrs. Oyewunmi Olabisi explained that the day is set aside to promote and celebrate key rules of the biomedical laboratory profession, diagnosis and preventive health care system worldwide.

She said the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu deserves accolades for improving the health sector, especially the practices in hospital laboratories, offering training in Quality Management Systems to staff and strengthening the practices in the medical laboratory towards producing quality results that will impact patientsā€™ treatments.

Some of the beneficiaries of the medical outreach like Mr. Ayomide Martins and Mrs. Onike Tolani extend their gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for deeming it fit to offer people in the community free medical tests.

Over 200 residents benefitted from free medical tests including blood sugar and blood pressure tests, among others at the event.
