The Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu has lauded the tremendous achievements and stellar performance of the state’s athletes at the 2024 All African Games held recently in Ghana.

Fatodu stated this today while hosting the athletes at the conference room of the Teslim Balogun stadium, Surulere, adding that the Lagos Stars’ remarkable feats at the 13th African showpiece in Accra, Ghana, demonstrated the level of their tenacity, determination and the-can-do spirit that defines every Nigerian.

He said, “Some of your aspirations may not have been met but you continue to live and strive with the hopes that things will get better. You have actually taken that spirit to another level with the kind of dedication and commitment you have put into efforts”.

Fatodu further commended them for defying all odds, staying stronger and flying the flag of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole, adding that they have proved themselves as wonderful ambassadors of Lagos and that their contributions are indispensable.

Some of the athletes present at the event include the current African and Commonwealth Champion in Weightlifting (55kg), Adijat Adenike Olarinoye; Omole Dolapo and a boxer who has already bagged a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in France, amongst others who have carved a niche for themselves in various disciplines at the African Games.

Their heroic display at the Continental multi-sports event exemplifies the role of the Lagos State Government in developmental programmes and critical investment in sports infrastructure.
