JUST IN: GOV OBASEKI APPROVES N70,000 MINIMUM WAGE

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers in the state.

The announcement was made by the governor during the commissioning of the new Labour House in Edo State on Monday.

According to him, the new wage comes into effect on May 1st,Ā 2024.

The house was named after the stateā€™s former governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Obaseki pledged to uplift the welfare of Edo Stateā€™s workforce by elevating the new minimum wage from N40,000 to N70,000.

Furthermore, he vowed to boost workersā€™ monthly salaries beyond N70,000 should the Federal Government endorse a new minimum wage for its employees.

Details regarding the enhanced minimum wage are set to be unveiled to the public during the commemoration of this yearā€™s Workers Day on Wednesday, May 1st.
