UPDATE: KANO GOV SHOCKED BY DRUG DEALER SEEKING COURT PROTECTION
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed shock at some drug dealers’ audacity in obtaining court orders to acquire illicit drug shipments that have been intercepted.
The governor was shocked by this incident during a Saturday visit to the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), where he was informed of the circumstances.
In a statement sent by his representative, Dawakin Tofa, the governor expressed his dismay at the judiciary’s role in approving these directives.
āIt is deeply troubling that individuals engaged in the illicit drug trade have successfully procured court orders for the release of their seized contraband,ā he remarked.

Yusuf instructed the stateās Attorney General to develop a comprehensive strategy to prevent drug traffickers from exploiting legal loopholes.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration between the judiciary and the government, stating, āThe severity of this issue requires a unified effort to shield the state from the dangers posed by drug trafficking.ā
The governor urged the agency to take the necessary actions to destroy the confiscated substances. āWe commend KAROTAās diligence and reaffirm our administrationās unwavering commitment to combating drug smuggling within the state,ā he said.
