On Monday, Nigeria’s D’Tigress started their Paris 2024 Olympics campaign on an impressive note, after defeating world number three Australia 75-62 in the women’s basketball event of the Games.
The team last won an Olympic match 20 years ago.
In what has been described as the biggest upset of the Olympics so far, Nigeria stunned the Opals.
The Rena Wakama-led ladies, in a spirited performance, beat the Australians 75-62 at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium.
It was the team’s first win in an Olympic match since Athens 2004.
