LASTMA WARNS AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE PARKING, DEPLOYS OFFICERS TO TACKLE FUEL QUEUE GRIDLOCK
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed more officers to tackle fuel queue gridlock in some parts of the state, warning against indiscriminate parking.
Fuel queues have resurfaced in Lagos State owing to the scarcity of fuel. Motorists are spending hours to get the product even at higher prices in filling stations across the state.
To address the attendant gridlock, LASTMA said it is sending more officers to filling stations.

In a statement by the agency’s spokesman Adebayo Taofiq, the General Manager of LASTMA Olalekan Bakare-Oki said that “this increased deployment is necessary due to reports of long queues at filling stations caused by motorists who park indiscriminately, blocking roads as they wait to purchase fuel”.
“We want our roads to be free-flowing; fuel queues should not become a burden for other road users in Lagos,” he was quoted as saying.
He reiterated that effective traffic management is essential for achieving a seamless multi-modal transportation system in Lagos.
