BLOOD THIRSTY BANDITS KILL 13 FARMERS IN NIGER STATE
Bloodthirsty bandits slaughtered 13 people on their fields on the Ijuwa outskirts of the Alawa hamlet in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA).
Akilu Isyaku, the LGA Chairman, confirmed the murders of the 13 farmers in an interview with a local radio station in Minna on Wednesday.
He claimed that the bandits shot nine of the victims to death, while four others were executed at a different site the same day.
A local said that the bandits targeted the hamlet because members allegedly provided intelligence to security services about the bandits’ movements.
Meanwhile, Niger State Acting Governor Yakubu Garba branded the act as diabolical and heartless.
Garba issued a statement expressing his condolences to the afflicted families, community members, and the whole Shiroro LGA community for the terrible tragedy.
This attack occurred at a time when farmers are supposed to devote more time to their farms. According to reports, numerous additional farmers far from the location of the incident have abandoned their farms due to fear of being attacked.
