NYSC DEBUNKS NEWS OF ALLEGED REJECTION OF CORPS MEMBERS WITHOUT SLT LICENCE IN GOMBE
The Gombe State Coordinator National Youth Service Corps, Chinwe Nwachuku, on Sunday, debunked insinuations that her officials denied 2024 batch B stream II corps members without Science Laboratory Technology licence access to participate in the three-week orientation course.
Nwachuku in an interview with our correspondent at Amada Akko Local Government Area temporary camp described the news as a ‘blatant lie’, saying that those without a licence were not denied the opportunity to serve their fatherland.
She said, “That’s a blatant lie. Corps members with SLT were registered on my camp.”
While urging peddlers of fake news to desist, Nwachuku added, “Those carrying such stories should get their facts right before they give out such messages. I wish all corps members the best and God’s protection.”
Reacting to the news, Clement Daniel, a serving corps member at the Amada temporary orientation camp from Benue State said he was registered for the orientation course.
Daniel said he graduated from Benue State Polytechnic, where he studied Science Laboratory Technology with Chemistry, and Biochemistry option in his Higher National Diploma although without a licence, adding that he was allowed into the camp.
He said, “I was allowed into the Amada Akko Local Government Area temporary orientation camp in Gombe State. I was registered without any delay. People should disregard the news going on that those without it were rejected.”
Also speaking, David Lami, told our correspondent that she was registered without hindrance, despite not having the licence.
She said, “I studied SLT at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa and I have been here for four days and I don’t have my licence and I was registered. People should stop passing on face news to avoid causing confusion and panic.”
On her part, Alfred Abosede, a graduate of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology Igbo-ora said, “I have been here since August 28. I don’t have my licence and I was registered without questioning.”
Raliat Adama, a graduate of Kano State Polytechnic debunked the news that corps members were not registered because of the inability to get an SLT license.
“It is not true because I was registered without a license. I studied microbiology in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology. Peddlers of fake news should desist,” Adama added.
