EPE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN DONATES EQUIPMENT TO GENERAL HOSPITAL
A Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) equipment has been gifted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of General Hospital Epe by Princess Surah Animashaun, the Chairman of Epe Local Government.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Chapter (NYCN), and Princess Animashaun, the Chairman of the Local Government, are appreciated by the hospital and the Pediatric unit for their kind gesture. Dr. Busayo Babatunde, the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Consultant Pediatrician, accepted the items on behalf of the management. He also stated that the equipment will not only improve the quality of healthcare services provided to clients, but also save lives.
He said, “The act is symbolic of their confidence in the management, hence the support towards the delivery of qualitative health care services to the people of Epe Division in line with the aspiration of the Lagos State Government”.
Dr. Babatunde also disclosed that the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Chapter’s unwavering efforts were the reason the donation was made possible. In recent years, the 70-year-old hospital has benefited from the support of the NYCN and important youth organizations from the former Epe Division, who have spearheaded the introduction of community ownership and involvement programs.
The CPAP machine is a piece of medical equipment used to treat apnea and other potentially fatal respiratory disorders in both adults and infants. Because they have low lung function, premature newborns are more prone to respiratory distress.
