LEADERSHIP CRISIS ENDS IN BODIJA MARKET AS NEW EXECUTIVES EMERGE

The Bodija Foodstuffs Sellers Association, located at the Bodija International Market in Ibadan, has elected new leaders to address its persistent leadership crisis.

The Oyo State Market Men and Women Association President, Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh, presided over the election and commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his laissez-faire attitude, which allowed the market association to handle its problems on its own.

Governor Makinde was commended for his choice to abstain, which he said was crucial in guaranteeing that the election of the new executives was a free and fair process.

The honoring of Otunba Seye Famojuro, a significant aide to Governor Makinde, for his critical role in negotiating and resolving the dispute that had paralyzed the association for more than a year, was the high point of the celebration, though.

An award of gratitude and the title of Atunluto of Bodija Market were given to Famojuro in recognition of his assistance, which was essential in bringing peace and order back to the association. Aderemi praised Famojuro’s diplomacy and knowledge in his statement, pointing out that the market would still be in chaos if it weren’t for his intervention.

“We wouldn’t be here today celebrating the swearing-in of the new executives if not for the efforts of Otunba Famojuro, who worked tirelessly to expose those who were using his and the governor’s names to push their selfish agenda,” Jimoh stated.

He went on to praise Famojuro’s leadership qualities, saying, “The type of leadership displayed by Otunba Famojuro is exactly what is needed to resolve crises in any organization or relationship. He called all stakeholders to the table, asked the right questions, and made it clear that neither he nor the governor had ever authorized the imposition of caretaker committees, as some had falsely claimed.

Additionally, Jimoh emphasized how the conspirators had instilled terror in the traders by claiming—falsely—that the governor approved of their plans to take over the organization. But with Famojuro’s intervention, the truth came to light and free and fair elections were made possible.

“Otunba, we are incredibly grateful for your role in bringing transparency and peace to this process,” Alhaji Jimoh continued. “Your leadership has been exemplary, and we are presenting you with this award as a token of our deep appreciation. May God reward you far beyond what we have been able to do today.”

The political head administrator of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the chairman of the Ibadan North Local Government Council, and the previous political head administrator of Aare Latosa LCDA all made contributions that were acknowledged in the interim. They were also congratulated for their efforts by Alhaji Jimoh.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt commendation to Honourable Seun Olufade (popularly known as Onala), Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Council, Honourable Ayoade Akeem Adewale, Political Head Administrator of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Honourable Akindele Amos Olaolu, former Political Head Administrator, Aare Latosa LCDA for their tireless efforts and interventions that have significantly contributed to restoring peace in our association and marketplace.

“Your dedication and leadership have been truly exceptional, and we appreciate the sacrifices you’ve made. Having interacted with various political office holders, both past and present, we confidently assert that you all stand out as remarkable ones. We pray for God’s blessings and protection over your lives and political careers,” he prayed.
