GUNMEN KILL APC CHIEFTAIN IN KEBBI
The All Progressives Congress Chairman of the Suru Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Bako Bala, was said to be abducted and assassinated by suspected gunmen on Wednesday.
In a post on the Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Television and Radio’s official Facebook page, Zaidu Bala claimed that armed men had abducted him from his hometown, shot him throughout the ordeal, and left him lying in a pool of blood.
Bala added that the APC Suru local government chair was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi but unfortunately died on Wednesday at the hospital from the wounds sustained in the shooting.
In a related development, bandits allegedly stormed Matseri village in the Bunza Local Government Area of the state and kidnapped one person.
According to a source from the village, it was confirmed that a young man who is now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi was shot in the process.
Meanwhile, all efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nafiu Abubakar, were abortive, as he neither picked up his calls nor responded to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
Kebbi State is one of the North West states in the country currently facing insecurity, especially that of banditry.
