LAGOS GOVT KICKS OFF IMPLEMENTATION, ENFORCEMENT OF E-CALL-UP SYSTEM IN LEKKI FREE TRADE ZONE
The Lagos State Government has begun enforcing the recently installed e-call-up system in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in order to efficiently control the truck traffic in the area.
Speaking at the commencement kick-off, Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, emphasized the importance of the initiative in preventing erratic traffic patterns and careless parking, which will protect the property value and guarantee efficient operations along the Ibeju-Lekki axis.
The e-call-up platform will control the entry and exit of both wet and dry cargo trucks into the free trade zone, which will improve operational efficiency and reduce congestion, according to Hon. Giwa, who also revealed that the Lagos State Government will be in charge of traffic management and enforcement of the new system.
He added that in order to discuss the deployment of the technology and make sure that everyone is on board with its efficient use, representatives from the Ministry of Transportation had actively engaged key stakeholders over the past few days, including Pinnacle, Dangote, Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Port, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
“My office is committed to proactively addressing the imminent challenges associated with increased truck activities in the Lekki Free Trade Zone,” the Special Adviser reiterated.
This project guarantees that the Ibeju-Lekki axis will continue to be a favorable place for business and real estate investment, which is a major step towards sustained development in the area.
