KANO GOV ACCEPTS N71,000 AS NEW MINIMUM WAGE
On Tuesday, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf authorized a new N71,000 minimum salary for the state’s civil officials.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Yusuf said, āThe decision is in line with my administrationās commitment to social justice and the improvement of living standards for our workers.
āIn line with our commitment to social justice and enhancing the standard of living for our workers, we have approved the sum of 71,000 naira as the new minimum wage in Kano State.ā
The governor pointed out that the state’s monthly salary responsibilities will rise by N6 billion at the state level and N7 billion for local government councils as a result of the new minimum wage, which will go into effect in November.
He explained, āAdditionally, following the promotion of 20,737 teachers by our government, a total increment amounting to over 340 million naira has now been reflected in their respective salaries.ā
āOnce again, I commend the state minimum wage implementation committee for its commendable work. ā AKY.ā
