TCN WORKING ON ENSURING THAT TRI-300MVA 330/132/33kV POWER TRANSFORMER AT LEKKI 330/132/33kV TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION IS RESTORED
TCN WORKING ON ENSURING THAT TRI-300MVA 330/132/33kV POWER TRANSFORMER AT LEKKI 330/132/
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, or TCN, hereby declares that its contractor, Shangai Electric Company, and TCN engineers are diligently working to restore the 300MVA power transformer at the Lekki Transmission Sub-Station that was shut down on October 24, 2024, by the protective control mechanism.
When the transformer began to make loud arching noises and smoke began to emerge from the red phase of the 132kV secondary power wire, the protective control activated the transformer’s shutdown.
In order to allow the system operators to repair the transformer’s primary side, the Aja maintenance team subsequently disconnected the power lines from the transformer.
TCN redirected the main power cable intended for the projected TR2-300MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer in order to ensure the timely repair of the current 300MVA ppwer transformer and minimize downtime on the transformer.
To speed up repairs, TCN experts are collaborating with contractors from Shangai Electric Company.
TCN asks for patience from impacted customers and apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused to electricity users in the impacted areas.
