PHOTOS: OLUYEDE OFFICIALLY ASSUMES OFFICE AS ACTING CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF
At a handover ceremony on Friday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, the recently appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff, formally took over his duties.
Defence Headquarters revealed this by posting pictures from the event on its X account.
The caption read, “Formal Taking Over Ceremony of the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Major General OO Oluyede.”
Hotjist reported that President Bola Tinubu appointed Major General Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff pending the return of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is said to be indisposed and is receiving treatment abroad.
Oluyede was the 56th Commander of the Nigerian Army’s elite Infantry Corps, stationed at Jaji, Kaduna, prior to his appointment.
Both Lagbaja and Oluyede, both 56, were classmates in the 39th Regular Course.
In 1992, he received his second lieutenant commission, which took effect in 1987. In September 2020, he was promoted to Major General.
